HORDIS Q.S.B. HORIZONTAL GLASS BENDING & TEMPERING SYSTEM

HORDIS Q.S.B. (Quick-Set-Bend) Horizontal Glass Bending and Tempering Systems are custom manufactured, the size is 36" x 80"(914mm x 2030mm).

The Q.S.B. provides cylindrical bent and tempered lites for numerous markets. The Q.S.B. system produces glass for automotive OEM and replacement side lites, and for recreational, industrial and farm vehicles. Architectural applications include curved, commercial and institutional building fronts and staircases, in addition to greenhouses, shower door enclosures and display cases.

Shape changeovers are rapid and don't require molds or tooling.

 HORDIS Q.S.B. HORIZONTAL GLASS BENDING AND TEMPERING SYSTEM STANDARD FEATURES

CONTROLS
Q.S.B. controls are upgraded to a higher performance level:

  • System operation is enhanced through an industrial PC interface via 19" color CTR which graphically displays the bending and tempering parameters. This allows the operator to set-up and fine-tune the system's functions. Graphics are clearly defined and displayed, making it operator friendly. Part changeover is estimated at 4 minutes.
  • Extensive storage capacity for part parameters is provided along with ease of entry and recall of part recipes, thus guaranteeing product consistency.
  • The Q.S.B. Control System includes the same features of the HORDIS Batch and Continuous Glass Tempering Systems.

CONSTRUCTION

Construction of the HORDIS Q.S.B. Bending & Tempering Systems include many of the same outstanding features included on our standard Batch and Continuous Horizontal Flat Glass Tempering Systems. These features include:

  • High quality, smooth-running fused silica rollers.
  • Kanthal efficient heating elements.
  • PLC Controller Diagnostics.
  • Infra-red pyrometer to monitor glass temperature at oven exit.
  • Unique, dependable line shaft and belt drive system.
  • Lightweight, high-efficiency insulation system.

HEATED BENDING OVEN

Unique to the Q.S.B. System's performance is a heated section where the glass bending occurs. This eliminates the need to overheat glass to compensate for heat loss during transfer from heating to bending. This insures the best results for shape control and repeatability, in addition to providing excellent optical quality and minimizing heat marking.

  • The unique mini rollers arranged in longitudinal rows, provide full width support to the glass, minimizing bend control problems experienced with other systems.
  • The mini rolls are controlled by a unique positioning mechanism to insure precise vertical and tilt location, thereby providing full support of shaped glass.
  • To negate the effects of temperature, the mechanisms to achieve the shape changes are externally located and shielded from the heated area, making them easily accessible.

QUENCH & COOLING CONSTRUCTIONS & FEATURES

The traditional HORDIS design parameters of rapid heat removal and open, visible construction with ease of access for service are evident in both of these mechanisms.

  • Top section of cooling unit is adjustable to suit positioning for various shapes.
  • The quench air orifices are a series of tubes which provide efficient transfer of air to the top and bottom surfaces of glass. Top and bottom orifices are precisely and infinitely adjustable to maintain a consistent tube to glass distance over the entire range of shapes and glass thickness.
  • The quench continues with a similar mini roll design described in the bending oven. The rolls are series mounted on longitudinal vertically adjusted rails for full support of the pre-bent glass.
  • The precision vertical actuators are mounted away from the quench area, shielded and easily accessible for service.
  • Cooling section accepts glass at quench exit temperature and continues to cool until glass reaches operator handling temperature.
  • The cooling section infeed is adjustable to suit the quench shape depth.
  • Series system of two blowers is utilized when processing 1/8"(3.2mm) glass. For thicker glass, only one blower is required. Tempered glass is produced to ANSI Z97 and ECER 43 standards.
  • All blower systems contain an inlet damper designed to efficiently control pressure and minimize actual horsepower required.
